Details follow. PLEASE EXAMINE THE CHANGES BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO ORDER BACK ISSUES FROM PREVIOUS TABLES OF CONTENTS. Also, SGML Newswire is now available by ftp; this will enable people to retrieve only the issues they are interested in, without overwhelming themselves with multiple issues. Again, details follow. Finally, I'd like to add that I always welcome ideas and input from subscribers, including information you may have about current SGML developments, press coverage, and opinions/insight about the industry. I respect confidentiality and won't announce sources without express permission. -- Linda Turner, list manager TO ORDER BACK ISSUES ==================== If you're a recent subscriber and want to receive all back issues, just send a message saying SEND ALL. Each file will be sent as a separate mail message. Alternatively, you can order individual items from the Table of Contents (TOC, attached below). Send e-mail with body text of the form "SEND 003 (12-20)" which corresponds to its serial number and to the date it was originally sent, both of which are listed in the TOC. NOTE: BOTH SERIAL NUMBER AND DATE SENT MUST BE INCLUDED IN YOUR REQUEST. RECYCLED ISSUES =============== Certain issues are periodically updated, with a new format or new content. For example, the SGML Hit List, which is a compilation of several SGML case studies, continually evolves with the addition of new user stories. When a new version is sent, it keeps its serial number but also has its new date of release attached. So in the TOC, the SGML Hit List, whose serial number is 017, is listed like this: 017 (6-03) SGML Hit List: in-depth case studies and industry analysts 017 (6-23) SGML Hit List: in-depth case studies and industry analysts 017 (9-03) SGML Hit List: in-depth case studies and industry analysts 017 (10-26) SGML Hit List: in-depth case studies and industry analysts In some cases, two issues will have different serial numbers but the same date plus a 1-digit extension; this indicates that the two issues were posted on the same day. Last, all issues listed in the TOC that do not end in the extension -94 were posted to the newswire in 1993. FTP === All issues of the SGML Newswire are archived in an ftp site at the University of Oslo, Norway. They are currently indexed by item number and complete date. The full pathname is ftp.ifi.uio.no: /publication/SGML/Newswire/ TABLE OF CONTENTS ================= 001 (3-30.1) Introduction to SGML Newswire 001 (3-30.2) SGML Bibliography 002 (4-01) InformationWeek, InfoWorld, CALS Journal, InterConsult, SoftQuad; Wessels, Arnold & Henderson 003 (4-02) WordPerfect, Seybold Boston Conference, InterConsult, SGML Open (original release) 004 (4-05) Unix Review, The Gilbane Report, newsletter, USENET (how to receive comp.text.sgml newsgroup) 005 (4-06) SGML quotes in the news 006 (4-07) Computer Sciences Corporation (Sunday NY Times display ad for "SGML Professionals") 007 (4-09) SGML in Context: five reasons SGML is strategic now 008 (4-13.1) Adobe press release on Acrobat (Seybold/Boston) 009 (4-13.2) SGML Open press release (Seybold/Boston) 010 (4-16) The Internet Business Journal, SGML on the Net, World Wide Web 011 (4-27) Adobe/Avalanche announcement in the news 012 (5-17) Update on Adobe/Avalanche press coverage 013 (5-26) BellCore Exchange, Communications of the ACM, Computerworld, Dr Dobb's Journal, Newsbytes, UNIXWORL 014 (5-27) Table of Contents 014 (12-20) Table of Contents 015 (5-28) SGML Hits Forbes 016 (6-01) The Internet 017 (6-03) SGML Hit List: in-depth case studies and industry analysts 017 (6-23) SGML Hit List: in-depth case studies and industry analysts 017 (9-03) SGML Hit List: in-depth case studies and industry analysts 017 (10-26) SGML Hit List: in-depth case studies and industry analysts 018 (6-09) Technical Communication: SGML special section 019 (6-10) Goldfarb gives feedback on Forbes, Novell seeks SGMLers 020 (6-11) Paradigm shift: the role of SGML in the mainstream 021 (6-21) Seybold Special Report emphasizes SGML, Electronic Delivery and Management of Documents 022 (6-23) InformationWEEK, free copies Gilbane Report, SGML Hit List 023 (6-28) MacWEEK Special Report: SGML 024 (7-01) Interleaf acquires Avalanche 025 (7-12) Gartner Group studies SGML 026 (7-14) Adobe Acrobat announced; Government Executive Magazine 027 (7-21) The History of SGML 028 (7-23) CTMG/Officesmiths and Avalanche sign reseller agreement 029 (7-26) SGML comparison: Interleaf & Frame; InformationWEEK: Electronic Document Management 030 (7-28) Federal Computer Week talks about IETMs; Interleaf's acquisition of Avalanche 031 (8-06) Wessels, Arnold & Henderson on Interleaf; DATAMATION on LAN products and SGML 032 (8-10) DEC Professional on "publishing on-demand" 033 (8-13) Gilbane Report analyzes relationships between documents, databases, and SGML 034 (8-16) InterConsult's 1993 SGML market study 035 (8-19) Electronic Publishing: the "new electronic document" 036 (8-23) Federal Depository Library Program goes SGML 037 (8-24) Internet Business Report 038 (8-30) The Wire Service Committee of the Newspaper Association of America and the International Press Telecommunications Committee choose SGML for text formatting system 039 (9-01) Goldfarb and Microsoft speak out; European SGML applications tools 040 (9-09) Datamation: the "less-paper" office; CALS Journal: the automotive industry 041 (9-15) U.S. FDA Starts to Get Serious 042 (9-20) Government Computer News Round Table: Desktop Publishing in Government 043 (9-23) Upcoming conferences/trade shows 044 (9-27) Network World: the document management mess 045 (10-01) Global Network Navigator goes online; upcoming Internet conference 046 (10-06) CD-ROM Expo '93 047 (10-12.1) IEEE Expert on knowledge-based document filing 048 (10-12.2) Interleaf announces Interleaf6 049 (10-22) Gilbane Report: Electronic Delivery 050 (11-01) SGML '93 and SGML Europe '94 051 (11-03) Publish on on-line document delivery; PC Magazine on portability 052 (11-05) Microsoft fact sheet 053 (11-12) World Wide Web; Documation show 054 (11-17) Archived SGML information; sample SGML marked-up document 055 (11-22) Mitch Kapor endorses information highway 056 (11-29) Novell: Commercial hypertext applications 057 (12-01) Bill Gates on SGML; Wessels, Arnold & Henderson 058 (12-06) Prentice Hall book series on SGML 059 (12-08) SGML authoring vs. SGML conversion: which is best? 060 (12-13) Online newsgroup: comp.text.sgml 061 (12-16) BYTE Magazine says flexibility is key to SGML 062 (12-20) SGML overview in News 3x/400 063 (12-27) Novell Seeks SGMLers: II 064 (1-04-94) Article for the CIO 065 (1-07-94) The Internet connection 066 (1-10-94) Silicon Graphics' IRIS InSight & SGML 067 (1-20-94) Microsoft speaks out on SGML 068 (2-04-94) The World Wide Web Information Infrastructure 069 (2-08-94) The SGML Year in Review 1993 ************************************************************** * SGML NEWSWIRE LIST MANAGER * * * * Linda Turner * * Corporate Communications * * Avalanche * * 947 Walnut Street * * Boulder, CO 80302 * * sgmlinfo@avalanche.com * * linda@avalanche.com * * Vox: (303) 449-5032 * * Fax: (303) 449-3246 * **************************************************************
